On June 25th, the New Zealand Canoeing Team arrived in Ishikawa Prefecture to train for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralymic Games. A welcome reception for the team was held at Sunroute Komatsu, where they interacted with Prefectural and City Canoe Association members, as well as local highschool students.
As a surprise the team performed a Haka, a traditional Maori folk dance. The dance, which holds meanings of respect and gratitude, was performed as a symbol of friendship between Ishikawa Prefecture and New Zealand.
The team will be holding a joint training camp with the Japanese national team at Lake Kiba Sprint Canoe Course in Komatsu City until July 6th.

ニュージーランド選手よりサプライズとして、伝統的な民族舞踊である「Haka(ハカ)」の披露がありました。ハカには、相手に対する敬意や感謝の意味があり、石川県とニュージーランドの友好のしるしとして披露されました。
